The Mind Is A Wonderfully Terrible Place

3 Reasons To Use A Future Focus Visual Map For Your Mental Health

I’m always my authentic self because I know the consequences of living a lie; the toll it takes on the mind is vicious! From military mindsets to mommy brain, your mind can endure a lot more than you know but, when it’s time to unload and reset it can be quite difficult. Brain fog is a real thing, that hazy world between confusion and uncertainty…it’s an awful feeling. It’s so easy to just settle for our mental state, to excuse it as old age or some silly quirk but, our minds can be the doorway to the successful future we’ve always imagined. A future focus visual map can lead us out of our mental insecurities, fears, and fogs, to grab a hold of what’s been there all along; GREATNESS!

1.    Because the mind is nothing to play with

First, it’s gotta be said that no matter what the condition my mental health endured my brain turned out to be my meal ticket. I didn’t break under the gruesome military training during boot camp, nor did I cave under the bizarre pressure of bringing a newborn into the house. Now I’m building a brand out of my expertise and imagination. My mind has always been good to me, even if it was an ethereal playground for all my nightmares. Even when a body shuts down, when there is brain function it’s considered alive, the power of our minds should be taken very seriously.

A future focus visual map takes some brain power, don’t worry it’s like the SATs and I’ll be right there coaching you along, it shows just how awesome your mind really is. Get motivated! No matter the mental state of your mind right now you can use this tool as an outlet to get a clearer picture of where you are and where you want to go.

2.    Trauma needs a home

Fun fact: I met my biological father about 10 years ago for the first time because I was told he had died from alcohol abuse. Yup…if that isn’t a recipe for childhood trauma I don’t know what is. I’ve been through a lot, as I’m sure you have as well, and here’s the thing; no one told us how to get through it. The trauma we thought we had hid under our beds or swept under the rug keeps rearing its ugly head in the way we eat, dream, even who we choose as a spouse. Trauma needs a home. Friend, you can’t go on forever covering your past in hopes that your mental health will spontaneously get well. It’s the same depressing outcome if you’d ignore a physical wound (feel free to check out my blog on your physical health here) when you can see how deep it goes you’ll know whether or not it needs stitches or surgery. Your mental health should be consistently considered when you’re dealing with trauma, it’s ok to check in with yourself. When’s the last time you examined your thought life?

I propose that instead of ignoring it go ahead and open the front door and let it out. You speak and I’ll illustrate your imaginings, trauma and all, to give you a creative outlet and most importantly to give you a hope for the future. You can scare me with your stories, I have my own, and this is a judge free zone, we ladies have to stick together!

3.    There’s more to you than consequence

If you haven’t heard this before allow me to be the first to tell you, “You are more than what’s been done to you!” Your life is more than the residue of your parents’ bad choices. Your story is unique, and one of kind, and it needs you to show up to your life now than ever before. We women are our worst critics, trying to hold it all together while completely ignoring our need for self-care. Our brains are full of anxious thoughts on how to find balance, how not to lose our identity, how keep everyone around us happy while being utterly miserable. When does it end? Our mental health is at stake! A future focus visual map pin points right where you are and gives you insight on where you actually want to be. You don’t have to choose between your happiness and your children or your spouse, you can actually have a plan of action to visualize your contentment and go after it!

Status quos, settling, and stupidity are super-imposed on women, as if we didn’t have a mind of our own. We get to choose the lives we want and maybe we can’t help the trauma of our childhoods, maybe we can’t pick our parents but, we can decide today to be more than a consequence. To be mentally healthy is to exercise the brain with new information or to study old knowledge. We can challenge our habits and question our thought processes; health is key. I don’t mind being your therapist/bestie to open up a new way of thinking, let your imagination soar and begin to embrace who you really are.
